A big Happy Birthday to my sister, Kris. This is what's been happening in the weeks leading up to her big day. Two weeks ago she fell up, yes, up the stairs and broke her finger.  Broke it so badly she had to have surgery to fix it.  On the day she’s having surgery they run a blood test to make sure everything is ok before they give her anesthesia.  After running the blood test, they call her into the room and tell her she’s going to have to have the surgery without anesthesia because the blood test showed she’s about 2 weeks PREGNANT!  She cried, her husband cried, my niece cried, we all cried.  Kris and her husband, Paul, have been trying to have a baby for about a year and had pretty much given up - so this came as a complete surprise.  I’ve been told to start knitting baby stuff and considering how long it takes me to complete something I planning on making whatever large enough to fit a three year old.  Plenty of time, plenty of time.

Anna Nicole Smith died today.  How crazy weird is that?

Ok, so what really happens in the space shuttle when it’s out in the universe? It’s obviously not all moon landings and orbits.  Astronaut love triangles – really?  Thank God the monkeys weren’t on that flight.  Things might have gotten way out of hand.  The whole driving 900 miles wearing diapers thing is, well, uh, icky.  I love how her lawyers try to make it sound like she just wanted to talk to the other women.  C’mon, any CSI watcher can tell you that the bag of tools Ms. Astronaut had with her weren’t going to be used for any good.  In fact, my first thought when I saw the list of stuff she had was “Oh my God, she was going to dismember her.”  Yeah, ok, I think I need to lay off CSI, Criminal Minds, and the whole genre of mystery.  I just scared myself.   I’m thinking some webcams in the next shuttle might be in order.  You know someone in Hollywood is trying to figure out how to make the shuttle missions into a reality show.

Colder than a witch's . . .

So cold. So very, very cold. –13 degrees. 13 below zero.  Which is balmy compared to the –33 in Green Bay and the –24 in Chicago.  We haven’t had cold like this in years and I don’t like it!  Stay warm everyone and if you live in a warm climate – bottle it up and ship some of it north.
