The July issue of Vanity Fair will have an article about W. Mark Felt who claims to be Deep Throat.  Should be an interesting read.  If he really is Deep Throat, I have to say I feel kind of disappointed.  I truly thought it would end up being someone like Diane Sawyer. It's not like I could talk about Watergate to any extent - all I know about it comes from seeing the movie All the President's Men when I was about 12. What I can say for sure is this  - some guy called Deep Throat gave info to Redford & Hoffman, oops I mean, Woodward & Bernstein and Nixon resigned because of it.  Yeah, my history teacher Dad would be proud.

Whether you are an obscenely rich American or an obscenely rich Greek, it's cool to name your kid Paris.

I love reading Whitney Matheson’s blog’s at USA Today. Check out the daily Hip Click’s and the weekly Pop Candy  which this week is just one more thing to illustrate the fact that I really didn’t pay attention while watching “LOST”.

I saw a trailer for the new reality show Beauty & the Geek and one of the geeks actually says “I haven’t been able to meet girls because my duties with the Dukes of Hazzard fan club take up all of my time”.  I would think that when you’re the only member you could rearrange that fan club schedule.

In other reality show news, NBC is premiering Hit Me Baby, One More Time next Thursday.  “Veteran Hitmakers” (their words not mine) get the chance to be stars again. Who are these stars you ask – oh, none other than Flock of Seagulls, Tiffany, Loverboy, The Knack, Wang Chung, and of course, it wouldn’t be a show without, Vanilla Ice.  Ah, yes, when you run out of ideas it’s time to look to the 80’s.

Hope you all have a great holiday weekend and don't forget to wang chung tonight.

Mary just informed me that I really need to pay more attention when watching "Lost" cuz I missed the heroin plane, "the others", and the comic book polar bears. Damn! See this is why I have to watch the reruns and take notes - I can't keep up.

Apparently British soldiers in Iraq have nothing better to do than dance around in their skivvies to bad country western tunes.

Speaking of Iraq, Jane sent me the info on this – earlier this month a London newspaper printed what is being called the “Downing Street Memo” which is “a document containing meeting minutes transcribed during the British Prime Minister's meeting on July 23, 2002—a full eight months PRIOR to the invasion of Iraq on March 20, 2003.” And “detail how our government did not believe Iraq was a greater threat than other nations; how intelligence was "fixed" to sell the case for war to the American public; and how the Bush administration’s public assurances of "war as a last resort" were at odds with their privately stated intentions.”  Well, color me surprised.

The season finale of “Lost” completely rocked and left me even more intrigued and confused.  Some of the things that I’m thinking about from the past season and from the show last night:

  1. What the hell is happening on that damn Island?
  2. Is Locke good or evil?
  3. Is Sayid setting Charlie up? I may have missed this but I thought only Locke knew that Charlie had a drug problem. Charlie is now clean mainly because it was thought there weren’t any drugs on the Island but last night Sayid leads him right to a small plane crash with a big load of heroin hidden inside Virgin Mary statues and at the end of the show, Charlie had one of the statues in his pack. I don’t think Sayid taking him there was a coincidence – this is “Lost” after all and there are no such thing as coincidences on “Lost”.  Don’t do the smack Charlie!
  4. Who are the people that kidnapped Walt? Did they come from the Island? Are Sawyer, Michael, and Jin still alive and if so, how are they going to get back to the Island? If they kill off these 3 characters I am going to be very upset!
  5. What’s up with Hurley and his numbers. Why were they on that hatch? Now that they’ve opened the hatch, you know something really bad is going to be in that hole. Think Pandora’s box.
  6. Speaking of Hurley, I think he, along with Sawyer, may just be my favorite characters. Did you notice that when Hurly finally made the plane and took out his comic book – that on the back of the comic book there were Polar Bears. I’m telling you there is no such thing as coincidence.
  7. Check out MSNBC  for rundowns on each episode.
  8. I may have to spend the summer watching “Lost” reruns and taking notes.

Anyway, as one of our local radio personalities likes to say “those are my thoughts, not yours” but, if you have thoughts on "Lost", I'm interested.

I’m listening to some BBC show that has an interview with Moby (yes, the obsession continues) and he’s telling a story about how he was doing a show in Rotterdam, Holland (or is it Rotterdam, The Netherlands? That’s always confused me. Just looked it up – it’s actually Rotterdam, Kingdom of the Netherlands) and a woman walked up to him and said that she loved his music but she found him very unattractive physically.  Ok, first of all – why would you tell someone that? Secondly, we all know by now that I think Moby is adorable! Having stood about 15 feet from him at his show in April I have to say that in no way is he“very unattractive physically”.  That’s just wrong.  BTW, the website Live Here Now, is selling cd’s of live performances of various Moby European shows.

Looks like Tom's off the ritalin.

This was all over the news this morning – The Federal Government told States that Medicaid was to cover Viagra prescriptions.  As if that’s not bad enough, it turns out that in New York alone, nearly 200 registered sex offenders got prescriptions for Viagra covered by their Medicaid.  Well, isn’t that just special?

Equally special, NOT, is the Tom Cruise & Katie Holmes thing.  Apparently I’m not the only one who thinks it’s a big publicity stunt. Want to bet that as soon as War of the Worlds comes out this summer that Tom and Katie will be no more?

Just finished reading Sarah Vowell's new book Assassination Vacation and I loved it.  She visits all kinds of sites, monuments, etc. related to the assissinations of Presidents Lincoln, Garfield, and McKinley.  I spent a lot of time thinking "I didn't know that" - when I wasn't laughing my ass off.  I'm still laughing over her nickname for Robert Todd Lincoln  - Jinxy McDeath.  You'll have to read the book to find out why that's a well-earned name for him.
