Total Film Magazine did a poll in the U.K., asking for the top film villian of 2004. Who won you ask? Well, none other than George W. Bush for his starring role in Fahrenheit 9/11. I have to agree, I've never been so frightened by someone in a film as I was by W. in F9/11. Way scarier than the Gollum thing in Lord of the Rings and that thing (and Elijah Wood) creeped me out big time.
There were NO Weapons of Mass Destruction in Iraq. None. Zippo. Nada. Yet a new poll by the Program on International Policies finds that "72 percent of Bush supporters continue to believe Iraq had actual WMD or a major program for developing them, disregarding the fact that the Senate Intelligence Committee and the heads of the Iraq survey group David Kay and Charles Duelfer (chosen by the president) have all concluded "that before the war Iraq had neither weapons of mass destruction nor even a significant program for developing them." WAKE UP lemmings and pull your heads out of your asses. Unbelievable!
Thanks to Creazativity for reminding me that Regency House Party was coming to PBS. If you loved 1900 House and all the others, you'll love this slightly different version. Here's the description from PBS: "Ten modern-day men and women get in on the romantic action and the way of life that typified the Regency era (1811-1820) in England. For nine sunny summer weeks, a group of eligible bucks and buxom ladies takes up residence in a magnificent country estate for a house party exactly like those hosted at the height of the Regency. But will 21st-century folk who are really looking for love manage to navigate the strict social protocols of the day?" Oooh, sounds kinda steamy!
Well, it's 11 days until the big election and I think I'm getting an ulcer. I'm freaking out and based on the e-mails I'm getting, it looks like I'm not the only one. I trying not to watch the news or look at the paper - I just can't handle the editorials, campaign footage, poll numbers, ads, etc. anymore. I'm going to be bouncing off the walls by November 2 and if W. wins, I'll be the hysterical, muttering, crying woman you're crossing the street to avoid. Now, having said that - I did read the article about W. in the last New York Times Sunday magazine and if you aren't already scared of W., you will be after you read the article. You can read it on the NY Times website but you have to register first or it should be available at your local library.
I just realized that I didn't post Paige's big news here. I'm slacking! Paige and Dan welcomed baby Grace on Sunday at 5:29pm. Talked to Dan today and he said Mom and baby are doing well and he's tired, but not as tired as Paige. I'll bet!
Why is it ok for the U.S. government to import flu shots from England but the elderly in the States can't import prescription drugs from Canada at a substantial savings? Makes ya go hmmm.
