Madrid
Hello everyone! I've been back from Spain for a week now and think I've finally gotten over the jetlag. I was really, really tired last week but am finally feeling like starting the blog thing again. I'd like to take a moment and send my deepest sympathy to the families and friends of the victims of the Madrid train bombings. Nothing I can say can make this tragedy less painful but my thoughts are with you. We got to Madrid the Tuesday after the bombings and you could tell that the city was subdued. Not that it was quiet – Madrid is very noisy – but you could feel that things were not normal. Which is an understatement, I'm sure. One day we went to the Reina Sofia Museum, which is across the street from the Atocha Train Station and from the museums glass elevators you could see the station and the hundreds of candles out front. The Puerto del Sol had a memorial as well. Very, very sad.
To my family and friends who expressed their concern - thanks for thinking about me and I'm sorry for any worry my being in Spain caused you.
Pictures and more on Spain to come later this week.
